My Story

Met Liefde Afrika was created out of my love and passion for crochet, knitting, embroidery and sewing. I remember when I was still in primary school and visiting my grandmother, she would teach me embroidery (especially the criss-cross stitch). Her teaching came in handy when I made a big criss-cross embroidery cloth of the “Onse Vader” (The Lord’s Prayer) with praying hands which is framed and hanging on my wall. My mother also taught me to sew, knit and crochet. She loved to make tracksuits and crocheting baby cardigans.

A Heart Stitched by Generations. A Mantle Restitched for Movement.

When my children were still small, I knitted jerseys for them and made clothes. But then life got busy and with four children in the house and working full-time from home for my husband doing admin and finance, I did not get much time for my passion. As the children grew up and started leaving the house, I started again. After a project with a non-profit organization “Beaunity by Grace” (my daughter Heidie) and crocheting for each of my children their own individual blanket in the colours they love, I knew this was my passion and I did not want to stop.

Afterwards I made a few things for family and people requesting items. Met Liefde Afrika was created after my daughter arranged a meeting with Apostle Elisa Fisher of The Grow Gathering® and within a week the company was registered.

Met Liefde Afrika is exactly as the name says – Handmade items made with love and from South Africa. I want to make items that will make the person buying it smile and know that it was made with love – making them happy to know that someone cared and created something just for them.

All items are individually made (no mass production) locally in South Africa.

Our Mission

At Met Liefde Afrika, our mission is to restore the beauty and value of the handmade—one stitch, one thread, one prayer at a time. We exist to:

  • Uplift the art of generational craftsmanship in South Africa,
  • Empower creators through purpose-driven work, and
  • Deliver keepsake-quality pieces that carry warmth, meaning, and prophetic identity into every home they touch.

Each creation is more than just a product—it is a declaration of care, a covering of love, and a reflection of faith and heritage.

Our Vision

To see a world where:

  • South African talent is honored, employed, and exported,
  • And every handcrafted item becomes a memento of legacy, comfort, and restoration in the lives of those who receive it.

We envision families clothed in love, homes adorned with heritage, and generations marked by blessing through the work of our hands.

Our Core Values

Love in Every Stitch: Everything we make is touched by love. Whether it’s knitted, sewn, crocheted, or embroidered, it’s prayerfully created with compassion, care, and excellence.

Purpose Over Production: We believe in intentional creation, not mass production. Each piece is uniquely crafted and often prophetically themed—because you are not just buying an item; you are receiving a story.

Generational Craft: We honor the skills passed down through generations of strong women, and we believe preserving this heritage is sacred.

Faith-Filled Foundations: Our business is built on biblical principles. Many of our designs carry prophetic meaning, and our hands are guided by the One who gifted them.

Community & Dignity: We support local—purchasing materials locally when possible, collaborating with rural and urban makers, and creating opportunities that foster dignity through creativity.
